Tom Hilbert
Colorado State Head Coach
Fresh off his 7th Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year award in the past eleven years, Tom Hilbert enters his 14th season at the helm of the CSU women's volleyball team. Under Hilbert's guidance, the Rams have become the most successful program in the Mountain West Conference and developed into one of the top programs in the nation. The Rams have qualified for the NCAA tournament in 15 consecutive seasons, a school record for consecutive postseason appearances for any sport. A deeper look inside Hilbert's coaching record reveals some remarkable achievements. Hilbert has led the Rams to seven regular season conference titles and four conference tournament championships: 11 Championships in 11 years. His overall record at Coloado State is 332-85 (.796) and in 21 seasons as a head coach, he has an overall record of 506-157 (.763) - 10th in winning percentage among active Division I head coaches. At Colorado State he has coached six All-Americans, 20 Conference Players of the Year, and 53 All-Conference Selections. Before coming to Colorado State, Hilbert led the University of Idaho to the Big West Conference Mountain Division title in 1996 and his teams won either the regular season or the tournament Big Sky Championship from 1992-1995. Hilbert accumulated a 174-72 (.707) record at Idaho. At Idaho he coached the Big Sky's only All-American in Mindy Rice. Hilbert also guided Idaho to its first national ranking and the Vandals were the first Big Sky institution to ever be nationally ranked in Volleyball. Prior to Idaho, Hilbert spent five seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater, the University of Oklahoma, from 1984-88. A native of Norman, Oklahoma, Hilbert earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Marketing from Oklahoma in 1984. He also received a Masters of Science in Sports and Recreation Management from Idaho in 1993. Tom and wife Leslie have been married for 21 years, live in Fort Collins and have one daughter, Myles who will be 10 in September.
Jesse Mahoney
Colorado State Associate Head Coach
Jesse Mahoney is beginning his fifth year as the Rams associate head coach - specializing in middle attacking and blocking. Under Jesse's leadership Colorado State's team defense and blocking have improved to a higher level.
Jesse Mahoney begins his sixth season with the Rams and his third as Associate Head Coach. Mahoney serves as the recruiting coordinator, as well as working with the blocking schemes and middle blockers on the court. Since Joining CSU in 2005 the Rams have made significant improvements in blocking ranking in the top 15 nationally four of the last five seasons. In 2007 middle blocker Mekana Barnes ranked fifth nationally in blocking and was named AVCA All-American. Mahoney has also coached MB's Dre Downs, Tessa Nelson, and Megan Plourde to All-Conference and All-Region recognition. Mahoney came to Colorado State from Fort Hays State, where he was the head coach from 1999-2004. While at Fort Hays, Mahoney tallied a record of 107-82, including a mark of 56-12 in 2003 and 2004. The Tigers squad not only posted its best record ever since joining NCAA II, but also finished the season ranked 11th nationally. At Fort Hays State, Mahoney coached the only three All-Americans in school history. Prior to Fort Hays, he was the assistant coach at Colorado Christian as well as the head coach of the Colorado men's club team for two years and was an assistant with the team the year prior to that. He also helped coach the 18-under Front Range Volleyball Club team that captured the USA Junior Rocky Mountain Region Championship title. Prior to coaching, Mahoney spent four seasons as the CU men's club team starting setter. He earned All-Tournament honors in 1993 after leading the team to the NIRSA National Championship. A native of Boulder, Colo., he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from CU in 1995 and a Juris Doctorate Degree at the University of Colorado School of Law in 1999. Jesse and his wife Gwen have been married for seven years, and the couple have three children: daughter Macy James (4) and sons Griffin Mack (2) and Declan Thomas (1).
Bri Frech
Colorado State Assistant Coach
Former Ram standout Bri Frech enters her third season as an assistant coach at Colorado State. Bri joined the staff full-time in 2008 after spending the 2007 season as the Ram's video and statistics coordinator. Her new duties include scouting and video analysis as well as coordinating team defense and ball control. In her first two seasons Frech has piloted the MWC's toughest team defense - leading the leaugue in opponent hitting percentage both seasons. Frech was also instrumental in developing 2009 MWC Libero of the Year Katelin Batten. Bri first joined the Rams as a player in 2003 after spending her freshman and sophomore years at Salt Lake City Community College. In the 2003 and 2004 seasons Frech was a full-time starter for the Rams earning All-Mountain West Conference and All-Tournament honors while leading her team to NCAA bids in both years and a combined 56-9 record. In 2005 Frech served as a student assistant for the Rams while completing her degree. She then played professionally in France for MVS La Rochette for the 2006 season prior to returning to Fort Collins in 2007. A native of Eschwege, Germany, she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Colorado State in 2005. Bri and husband Charles Olmstead have been married for one year and live in Fort Collins with their dog Chip.
Other Clinicians
Current and Former Colorado State women's volleyball players, along with experienced coaches from all over the country will complete the camp staff. All camp coaches will have high skill levels and/or extensive coaching experience. Coaches are charged to create a fun, positive and challenging atmosphere.
